How I Met My Favorite Fishing Guide

posted on 6 February 2012

It was in 2008 when I met my favorite fishing guide. I scheduled our family vacation to Lake Texoma and was totally clueless that I had to arrange a reservation ahead of time if I wanted to try bass fishing. I was arguing with the receptionist at the hotel when a man approached me asked what seemed to be the problem. I told him my concerns and he just smiled. To my surprise, it was Steve Buckley. He told me, the reason why we had to put in a day's notice prior to a fishing trip is that it takes time for the guides to prepare the things needed like the bait and the gear to make it successful. He invited me to go fishing with him the next day and I obliged. From then on I had a wonderful friendship with him and even called him my “favorite fishing guide”.

One Cheats and then Couple Breaks Up

I can't believe you did this to me. We were together for at least three years and I can honestly tell you that during the entire time, I was completely honest with you. I have never ever cheated on you. I committed myself to you and to this relationship, believing that we had a future. And this is what I get. My girlfriend cheats on me and now that I give you the chance to finally admit it, what do you do? You continue to lie to me? How can you do this to me? I have loved you all this time. If you had a problem with me, then you should at least have the decency to tell me. Do you even know how I feel now? How do you think would I feel knowing that you have been going out with that sport psychologist guy who by the way, lives just next to this apartment? Do you have any idea? Were you even thinking? Look, I am not going to force myself on you. I deserve more than that.

Why I Will Never Return to a Point and Shoot

CLICK! That's the sound of the shutter on my DSLR. What a terrible photo... My time with my DSLR has taught me officially that practice makes perfect. The longer I had my DSLR the more I wanted to shoot. I found myself taking my camera everywhere with me, and the more I took it with me, the better the shots I was taking. A Berkshire photographer told me that you can't substitute anything for experience, so just get out there and click away. I was taking stop motion shots, macro shots, and many more. I enjoyed photography very much, and it got to the point that I didn't like spending money to have other photographers take portraits of me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with my camera, and it has helped me capture some of the biggest moments of my life, and the history of my area. I am very proud of my work. Thousands have seen it. One day, I hope I can use my camera to capture a unique event, where I was the only person with a camera. Then, more than thousands would see my work. Photography has offered me a window for output. I can't draw, but in photography, I am good at light drawing. I love to look into the eyes of portrait models when I shoot. I can see the expression they have, and in some way, I feel like I can understand what they feel. For that moment, before I close the shutter, I am looking through the lens of compassion, not a camera. I can feel them inside of the lens, into my eye, into my brain, down to my heart. Then, before it can go anywhere else, I capture the moment. I am still not a professional photographer, but I still shoot professional level photographs. Every time I turn my camera on, I get practice for my dream of being a photographer. I don't want to be a portrait photographer, but an artist. I want to capture the moment in a unique way, and I always try to. When I shoot, I don't get lazy, I keep going and going and try for new things. Sometimes I mess up, but I always try to make it right. I often go out shooting with other people.
