My town used to have a run down look about it. Litter everywhere. But with a new council in place, they turned it around. With the use of self drive compact sweeper hire services, they first cleaned up the place. Then something interesting happened. People felt better, and the sight of a sweet wrapper on the ground suddenly jarred with the senses and you'd see people pick it up. Of course, they had to ensure there were plenty of bins around to put the rubbish somewhere, so that's what they did. The sense of civic pride is back amongst the people, and although people don't say it out loud, there's an added sense of confidence in the town. It just shows how much damage litter can do to the collective psyche if you let it. It doesn't take much time or effort to keep a town clean - you just need the will. |
